The MONSTER is unleashed

Presenting MONSTER @ the MWC 2009 in BarcelonaOn February 16th, we officially launched the download section of MONSTER for public use at the Fraunhofer booth on the 2009 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Given the amount of work that went into the creation of the software, the whole process of launching was quite unspectacular and witnessed by far to few cheering spectators (none in fact ;) but nevertheless, we captured this milestone.

The demonstration in Barcelona showed our first MONSTER prototypes running on Android, Desktop PCs (as stand-alone client but also as a widget solution) and for Windows Mobile devices. The showcase featured an integration of the micro-blogging service Twitter with IMS presence information as an example on how easy developers can work with the open API provided by the framework. Additionally, we showed geo-location-tagged media information shared and exported via an IMS network that was hosted in the Open SOA Telco Playground.

Overall the various discussions and positive feedback during the event showed us, that there is a real need to look into a framework which enables with its open API approach the concept to “develop once and run on many platforms" to challenge the silo thinking of many device vendors. The talks motivated us to go on with the development of framework but from now on we are also counting on the feedback that the MONSTER users as a larger test panel can bring to improve the software.

In this whitepaper you can get some more information for the launch of MONSTER.
